What is The Journey?

Jesus gave 2 key commandments to his closest disciples:

#1. Abide (or remain) in Me and you will bear much fruit.

#2. Go make disciples of all nations.

The Journey is a 9-month discipleship process to help believers learn how to abide in Christ so they can become His disciples, and they will then know how to go and make other disciples. This is done through small group meetings, journaling and meditating on God’s Word, and participating in extended Prayer retreats. People who go through The Journey gain an intimate abiding relationship with Christ that transforms their life into one of purpose, pleasure and peace.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.”

– Jesus in John 15:5

the process

Small group discussion meetings.

A Journey group meets every week or every other week for about 9 or 10 months, either in-person or online. You will get to have candid conversations with this group, share spiritual discoveries and encourage one another.

Personal Bible study, including journaling.

We will teach you how to connect with God through His Word. One key tool we use is journaling. Our goal is for you to have a hunger for God’s Word and become a self-feeder.

Personal guides to help show the way.

Every Journey Group has guides who are on The Journey with you. They are not teachers or counselors, but rather, facilitators to help point you in the right direction and to monitor your progress.

Retreats.

We incorporate 3 different retreats where you will spend extended time away with your group and with the Lord. These are usually on a Saturday. All of these are designed to help you carve out more time for intimacy with The Father.

how to get started

1. FIND A JOURNEY GROUP

Start by joining a group that fits your life—whether it’s in-person, on Zoom, or a mix of both. Visit our Find a Journey Group page to browse open groups or join the interest list to hear when new ones are forming.

2. ORDER YOUR JOURNEY MATERIALS

Everything you need for The Journey is in one convenient set: The Journey Pack. The Journey Pack is also available in Spanish, with free digital translations in several other languages. Some titles are also on Kindle and Audible, as well as downloadable PDFs.

3. BEGIN WITH THE INTRO STUDY
Most groups will begin with a short study of The Journey to the Inner Chamber. This six-week introduction lays the foundation for what’s to come and helps you determine if you’re ready for the Journey. If you want to do this study before you order the full Journey Pack, grab the 6-Week Study Pack instead.
4. THE JOURNEY BEGINS
Over the next 9 months, you’ll learn to walk closely with the Holy Spirit through journaling, Bible study, group discussion, and prayer retreats. As you grow in intimacy with Christ, you’ll also form deep, authentic connections with others in your group. This is where lives change—from the inside out.

the essentials

Once you decide to go on The Journey, you will need to read the book The Journey to the Inner Chamber by Rocky Fleming. Most groups start out with a 6-week discussion of this book, which will help you determine if you are ready for The Journey.

Once you commit to the full 9-month Journey, you will need The Journey Pack.

The Journey Pack includes the first book and discussion guide, plus:

  • The Journey Manual
  • Influencers Journal
  • An Orphan No More by Rocky Fleming
  • The Prayer Cottage and the Sacred Garden by Rocky Fleming
  • Abide by Rocky Fleming
  • Beyond the Inner Chamber by Rocky Fleming

You will also need a Bible – most of the scriptures used in The Journey are out of the NIV or ESV translations.
